I assume this is from personal experience...

It might help to know what sort of tank cover we're talking about: hard or soft, factory or aftermarket.

A year ago I was riding way in the back of a SUV that was towing a Casita 17, to try to locate a noise that the owner thought was related to towing the trailer. So I was in a position to see the hard cover that set over the two 20 lb propane tanks. At 50 mph that cover was moving around a lot. I was surprised at how much it was moving. Turned out it was not the source of the noise, but taught me that it is a good idea to secure the cover, which I had already done on our Casita because of rub mark on the fiberglass.

It was hard cover, factory installed.

I think it was related to change in aerodynamics of tow vehicle. I had several thousand miles with old tow vehicle with no problem. 200 mile with new tow vehicle and it came off.
