question about interior lights 1980 trillium 1300

last week we were camping and suddenly the interior lights stopped working, the plugs work, the running lights for the exterior work but the lights inside stopped. There is no obvious damage but the light above the stove/sink flickered often since we bought the trailer 2 years ago.

Any insight on rewiring the lights? The plugs and other areas seem to have been upgraded over the years but the lights seem to be original but in great shape - well other than not working.

There are a couple of fuses in the road side of the gaucho, where the wire that goes to the tow vehicle enter the trailer. Check there for a blown fuse.

The flickering light might be an intermittent short. The fuse blowing might have prevented a fire. I have found that the wires on an older trailer can corrode with time, even under the insulation at either end. Get some replacement wire for that light. Try to maintain the same colour code. Tie the new wire to the old wire and use the old wire to pull the new wire to the end of the old wire. Then connect the replacement wire at either end. Don't forget to remove the old wire completely.

where you plugged into power at the time? Did the light flicker only when plugged in or did it when off the grid as well. An early warning sign your converter may be on its last legs is lights doing a tiny flickering when running off power.

it is one light that flickers a bit, none of the other lights do. And then all the lights went out. We were plugged in at the time.

A gaucho is the front couch that turns into a bunk bed.
