Removing bunk "bump"

Hi all! I'm a Burro owner who wants to know if anyone has removed that bump for bunk beds jutting out at the inside front of the camper? My cushions aren't fitting well when I'm setting up the area for regular seating. I have no plans to use the area for bunk beds. Thanks!

I took the bunk bump out of my UHaul. It left some bare fiberglass that I covered with my backer cushions. Worked fine and so much more room on the seat

As Pam said, you can take it off. The tradeoff is that the front wall is a little weaker, but strong enough for most uses.

UHauls may be slightly different than our cousin Burros. How is your "hump" attached?

I just checked...it's covered by rat fur but if I really pry apart the fur if kinda looks like the bump might be a piece of wood. Do you think it will really compromise the wall?

It won't be as strong without it, but it will probably be just fine.

My 'bump' was a large molded piece of fiberglass that was glued and screwed onto the inner walls. These photos show the 'before' removal, and the 'after' removal. I've covered the raw fiberglass with a decorative cloth covered board.

Well, that was interesting. My bump was a block of wood turned sideways. I got it off with a jigsaw then broke off the fiberglass that was sticking out with pliers. Took a while but it's done.

That's because you have a Scamp and Linda was asking about a Burro. Two different kinds of trailer builds.
