In the auto
paint world there is a product used before sanding and ,often, again before
painting called wax and grease remover. It smells like naptha and both products work similarly -you might give it a try. change the wiping rag often. There is also a gritty product you mix with water to prewash a panel used frequently for "blends" that cuts grease and wax and has a slight abrasive quality called scuff and clean that might help. I am surprised that paint would stick to a waxy finish- hope you don't have adhesion issues. Best of luck.
