Repair on Scamp outside shell re-do?

I am looking at buying a 1983 Scamp 13. The owner is mentioned he clipped a mail box back in 83 & repaired it. The area is about 1.5 feet around & doesn't look that great. Is there a way to re-do this patch job & make it look like it wasn't there? Thanks

It is just fiberglass repair. Can be done by you or any body shop.

Hi Barry,

Basically, just about anything that's fiberglass can be cut out, and then re-done. And making it structurally stronger than new is easy. Where it gets a bit trickier is in the cosmetics. That's where the "art" meets the technical.

It's hard to say anything more specific without at least seeing photographs.

Thanks... I will get some photos up here in a day or so. The patch job is ok but you can really tell there was some damage.

Barry, you may not need to remove the old patch, The key is it structurally sound? If it is, chances are that it can be ground down and the appropriate filler used to "reform" the patch and with sanding/patching/sanding/patching(well you get the message) can make the repair invisible. Good luck, for a qualified person, this fix should be no big deal.
