replacing the drip cap over the door

Scamp 5th wheel. What is the rivets gripping on the backside? Acorn nuts?
Do I need to pull away the "rat fur" to see them? Is the rat fur glued around all the windows if I have to pull the windows for new Butyl tape?

thx, John (Great place to learn about Scamps!)

Scamp uses "blind" rivets- nothin' back there but more rivet! To remove, just drill out the center, usually a 1/8 bit will do it.
Tip:
If you've never used a blind riveter, Youtube has lots of vids on the subject.

Yep, just drill out, a piece will fall to the back between the shell and reflectix where it stays for forever.

rivets

Can the rivets be bought at hardware store or are they an unusual length
and only through Scamp?

Rivets again.......

Oh and where have I seen acorn nuts holding the backside of the rivet?
Are all the rivets (windows etc) I see...blind rivets on the Scamp?

I buy the aluminum rivets I need at True Value Hardware... local source. Maybe this will help you? http://www.fiberglassrv.com/forums/f...ist-52225.html

John,
The rivets with the acorn nuts are the same type of blind rivet. The Acorn nut is there for either esthetics or strength (i.e. in stead of a backing washer)

Scamp uses acorns on the inside on cabinets but curtains rods, water, electrical fittings etc are all blind rivets.
