I'm sure many egg owners have the same question as mine.

I'm looking to replace the insurance on my Casita. I currently pay State Farm $200 per year for Physical Damage coverage with a $250 deductible.

I suspect one of the specialized RV insurers might offer better coverage for less money.

Tell us the company who insures your egg, what coverages you have, what are the deductibles and the annual premium. Describe your trailer if it's not in your profile.

Please also tell us of your claims experience, if any, with the company.

When that tree hit your Casita, did they pay up?

Check with your auto insurance people.

Mine is covered for liability automatically when towing, and it was a pitance to add comp and collision. Something like 30 bucks every 6 mos. Might even be 25, I would have to double check.

My homeowners covers it for comp when it is in my driveway.

The only thing NOT covered is theft of contents. However, if someone is patient enough to get past all my locks, and the rig is stolen, THAT is covered, except for personal contents. They won't insure for content theft because it is far too easy to get into any trailer.

What extra does special RV coverage get you?

We have Allstate...They insure the house, Toyota truck, PT Cruiser, Bigfoot and Seabring Convertable. The trailer is covered for $40.00 a year, but we suspend it during the winter months. We also suspend coverage on the convertable from Oct trough March and coverage on the PT from April through Sept.

We also have a Good Sam policy so that if we are on the road and need a tow, both the truck and trailer are brought to locations of choice.

I don't know off hand what I pay but it's not much because I'm cheap.
Like others my car, truck insurance covers the other guy but not the replacement
of the trailer so I have grange on my car and trucks and motorcycle so I just added the trailer.
In my neck of the woods state farm is cheaper for my house and covers all
full replacement, the contents on most policies are pro-rated for 7 years.
anything older isn't covered I found this out before I needed it.

Insurance is through AVIVA - Elite Insurance Company. $199/yr but provides guaranteed replacement cost, personal property up to $5,000, emergency vacation expense @ $200/day, maximum $2,000 and detached structures up to $5000 - all included in the premium. Deductible is $250. Claims is experience is nothing (and hopefully never, touch wood). Since I bought my trailer new, I figured the guaranteed replacement cost was worth the price.

Interesting note.
We had a conversation with our Allstate agent. That the Blue Book value is far below the retail price of Eggs. That say our egg was a complete loss that they would offer the blue book value. That we would need to reject that offer and document the fair market value.
It is doable but I would need to be persistent.

I ran into this exact problem. My 17' Burro got skewered by a boat prop, and my repair quote was about $3500. Farmer's wanted to total it out at around $2000, but I collected bunches of eBay auction and private sale information proving that the going rate was between $4000 and $5000. They sprung for the repair (less our $500 deductible). I think the rider on our policy costs about $10 per year.
