Ah, so it looks like
Scamp uses a trailing arm
axle now. The
Boler 13's (that I know of) use a leading arm
axle (that way the axle itself tucks up under the dinette floor). I would guess (?) that earlier Scamps also used a leading-arm axle -- if so, I wonder when the change was made?
This would be one reason why an older Scamp or a
Boler could sit lower (overall height) even if the axle were not in bad condition (although of course many older axles could stand to be replaced).
With the leading arm axle, I believe the arms would point down; at least that makes sense in looking at your photo and imagining the axle running up under the dinette floor.
So maybe that explains the current Scamp axles having arms that angle the opposite way
