Scamp 19 City Water Connection

I hooked up water last night and have a few questions. In the water inlet there was a black "plug" that came out instantly and there is a spring sitting inside the inlet, lodged in place. Is that supposed to be there and what does it do? What about the plug? I have a leak somewhere, I have one at the water inlet for the water heater tank but somewhere else potentially as well that I am tracking down.

Back flow protector

I believe you are looking at a back flow protector that has failed. Look inside trailer for a easy way to disconnect plumbing. Sometimes there are three screws from the outside that hold the complete assembly to the trailer. More times then not it’s failure is caused by freezing (sometime causing more leaks) but not always. I would call manufacturer for correct replacement.
