Scamp Hinge pin assemblys

Does anyone have a source for the Scamp door hinge pin assemblys other than Scamp.

I know Scamp has them but I'm tired of atrocious shipping charges and unreturned e-mails.

John

THANK YOU Donna.
They're ordered
With shipping Scamp would have cost me $26.27 for 2 sets of hings pins.
Land Rover cost with shipping was $16.38.
Land Rover hinges were less expensive and shipping was about half.

Saving $9.90 is worth giving up on Scamp.

Thanks again Donna,
John

You're welcome John. I'm thinking you may want to change the pin from the Land Rover hinges, but most do that with the Scamp hinges anyway.

Don't they offer shipping by mail any more? That's how I got mine a few years ago.
It is commonly reported in this forum that there is no point trying to deal with Scamp by e-mail: call them.

We ordered something from Scamp, and they charged us around $12 for shipping. When the package arrived it had $1.40 in stamps on it...I suppose the rest was "handling". My guess is they don't run a very efficient shipping department...That was the last time I visited their website too.

Interesting, and the bushing looks suitable, but it should be a ball, and the description says "conical brass bushing"... has anyone actually seen these?

I think the Scamp web page software calculates shipping probably for shipping via UPS or FEDEX. I've found that phone works pretty good pulse you talk to them to make sure you're getting right part. The shipping when ever I've talked to them was far less than charged by their web site usually arrived via USPS.

I ran into the same problem with my old web site. I changed the way things were done and shipped only via USPS and the shipping cost was included in the price. I could advertise free shipping since I had no additional charges.

Call is the best bet.

All I can tell you is the guy who posted it on Facebook has used two sets on two different Bolers.

What might the compression ferrules be for? Are you thinking they would work as spherical bushings?

While I prefer to use the originals or even make something, Some types of compression ferrules are pretty close.
I have found that drilling a wallowed out hinge(and the brass ball) to accept a shoulder bolt... up from 1/4" to 5/16" works pretty good for a fresh alignment.

I just thought....
How about one of those nylon balls which form the seal for the drain plug arm for a sink stopper? Haven't tried it but some plastics are pretty tough.
