I hope he was joking. I'm afraid he was not.

I don't think ST or LT tires ever came in this size - was Scamp using regular (not specifically for trailers) tires, or were the sizes perhaps ST175/75R13 and ST185/75R13, or ST175/80R13 and ST185/80R13?

Your B-78-13 tires are 30+ years old. I would not even think of using them.

A ST175-80-13 tire is 24.02 inches in diamater and 6.89 inches wide. It has a maxium load capacity of 1360 pounds (load range C ) per tire.

A ST185-75-13 tire is 24.65 inches in diamater and 7.28 inches wide. It has a maxium load capicity of 1480 pounds ( load range C ) per tire.

If you have clearance the 185's would give you greater load capacity while raising your trailer a little over 1/4 inch off the ground and putting the top of the tire a little over 1/4 inch closer to the wheel well. A pair of 185's can carry 240 pounds more.
Unless your current tires are really close to the wheel wells eiher size would work.

One more thing to think about is tire chains. If you are going winter camping having clearance to allow for chains could be critical. I know Minnesota people are familiar with winter driving and tend to not use chains but if you are in some of the western states chains are sometimes required. I've never had to chain up my trailer but I am prepared to do so if needed.

Have fun !

175-80-13 I believe - didn't have time to order what I wanted . Wish I had started with the tires a few weeks ago when I bought her but I was lead to think that if the axel was replaced it would no longer have the original tires on it after 30 yrs .
Now I'm worried about the bearings lol . Need to go drag her around town a bit see how that goes and call AAA make sure RV is on it .
