Scamp - Touching Up Chips on Fiberglass Interior Peices

Hi,

I have an older Scamp that has small and medium (nickle sized) chips out of the fiberglass pieces in the interior, mainly on the sink cabinet and closet pieces.

Has anyone had any luck finding a touch up paint to fill in chips in the interior fiberglass pieces? I'd like to touch them up versus painting the entire pieces if possible.

Thanks for your help!

Spencer

I find you need to fill the chips first, then touch up. Paint doesn't really fill in holes, unless they are quite small.

Bondo, Bondo with Glass, even JB Weld sells a fiberglass patch material, which I have used to fill in old screw holes.
How deep?

That makes sense. They're only as deep as the paint chipped off, so maybe a millimeter or two. After filling with a bondo, do you have a recommendation for what type of paint to use to touch up where you applied bondo?

Thanks for your help!

If they are that shallow then multiple layers of paint sanded to blend in could work.

Marine-Tex is a two part white epoxy which is a pretty close match to the Scamp gelcoat. Others use a white epoxy found at Home Depot, sorry I don't know the name of that product. But both products are good for filling voids and screw holes in Scamps.

How about gelcoat?
https://www.wholesalemarine.com/one-...SABEgLtkfD_BwE

"Use to fill gouges, chips, scrapes and deep scratches in the fiberglass gel coat. One Step Finish Gel Coat is a non-run, non-sag formulation of flexible polyester resins to produce resiliency and toughness. Evercoat Coloring Agents may be used to tint the material to desired color."
