Screen door transplant

Wondering if I can use the screen door from a Scamp and fit it to my 13' Boler. Anyone tried this??? Close/mods to make it work? Thanks!

Screen door transplant

Which screen door- the old bi-fold style or the new sliding type?

Since late 2006, Scamps are taller than Bolers, including the doors, so I don't think the new ones will fit. The older ones might, but Scamp doesn't sell them any more.

The bi-fold style is actually fairly simple to make yourself from inexpensive hardware store components. Norm (honda03842) documented how he built his in this (long!) thread (click the arrow to go there for details, scroll down past several unrelated posts to see the parts laid out):

We got one of those $7.98 fabric screens from e-bay (free shipping) -- we started with a black one and then got a white one. We like the white one better in Peanut. It works surprisingly well with a few mods--a little hemming, for example. Bit long. Cheap. Easy. Replaceable easily. rolls up entirely out of the way (I added some ties at the top for when it's rolled up). The magnets are surprisingly effective.

We use the black one on our house door at home--that works fine, too!

Oh--also I installed it on a dowel above the trailer door, rather than using just the Velcro. Works fine. (But then, Peanut is an amerigo, with a whole-ceiling insert, so not entirely single-shelled. Does make a diff in how you configure things.)

Hmm... Looks like a home made door or the magnetic mesh options are the two I will focus on! Thanks to all!

Red face

.....Example from e-bay showing alternate colors--this one is going for $7.19 with $1.40 shipping from China. This particular offer doesn't have white. Cheapest I saw (looking briefly) was under $6. Some go up to $38 + but I can't tell that they're any different. Ours were $7.98 + free shipping and are fine if you can sew a little to fit them properly to your doorway.

....just in case you go with the mesh--you can always build one later, too, should you choose to.

What are your measurements

Maybe you can list your door measurements and someone can measure the Scamp door opening for you.

Just a thought
