Snow check

Well, we had a white Christmas here ... snowed about 5 inches on Christmas eve.

Pam tells me we aren't going camping until after the first of the year ... but today, I'm going to make a "snow check."

Yup, I'm going down to the storage yard, sit in the trailer, run the furnace via a Jump-it battery ... and look out the windows at the snow ... dreaming of winter campouts yet to come.

I'm telling Pam I have to go do a "snow check" to make sure the cute little fiberglass trailer weathered the Christmas eve storm ... but in reality, I'm just going down to the trailer to loaf around.

If your trailer is stored ... and it's been a while since you've inspected it ... I suggest you do the same.

Sitting inside the trailer is good for the soul.

Try it, you'll like it!

:wave Hi Charles, We have been having an unusually mild winter so far here in NE Wisconsin, so no snow untill today. However our "egg" is parked on our patio not 50 feet from our back door. So night before last I announced to my wife that I was going to sleep in the Scamp that night just to check out how it was to sleep in it in 20 degree weather. :zz I turned on the furnace, set the thermostat to the lowest temp that it would go to, crawled into the bed with a heavy blanket and slept like a baby. :bed My wife, Teddy, wimp that she is declined to join me.:crying

snow

Larry,
maybe she will join you next time now that you survived, and don't have frost bite or pneumonia

the idea of going out and sitting in the trailer right now in the cold, doesn't appeal. (oh, I'm supose to turn on the heater, that sounds some better) we got 8 to 10 inches monday/tuesday and it is still there. I want it out of here. three days is my limit and we are going on 5 day. got some good icicle pictures though. :)

icicles

no they weren't on the trailer. they were on the house, I'll put pictures when I get them developed, as I have the old style camera. Buttercup aka the Dish doesn't have any edges sticking out enough to make an icicle. as you will know, Mary. :) I shoud have stuck some on her for fun, but didn't think of it.
She made it through the big snow just fine though. I did go out long enough to see if there were any leaks, and she was nice and solid, not a leak or drip. I admit, Charles, just that short time in the trailer did feel good. came away with a big grin. I think I still have some resudual fear from the MH I had. afraid to look because I'm afraid I'll find something wrong, as if it will go away if I don't see it. pretty silly huh? But the trailer had nothing wrong to find. yea!!:banana

Hi Guys!

Larry ... most state parks in Illinois stay open year round. We will be at Illinois Beach State Park at Zion ... probably sometime in February ... now that you know you can sleep comfortably at 20 degrees F (-7C) ... tell your wife you want to go camping!!!!!

Jana ... I'm tellin' you ... ten minutes inside one of our little fiberglass wonders is better than ten hours anywhere else.

It truly is good for the soul.

And, like you found out, guaranteed to bring a smile to your face!

snow check

:wave Charles,
I just got back from the storage yard to check out (sit in) Toad Hall Under the pretext of changing out the LP tanks. The 5-6" of snow we had here in the St. Louis area didn't hurt a thing. This morning it is in the low 60s.
I'll be taking the Casita out on or about the 17th of January for a run down to Austin TX to pick up my son-in-law, then on to the Big Easy (Fontainbleu SP) for a few days, thence to Ft. Pickens out on Pensacola Beach. Like you, I love winter camping, but prefer to do mine where the temp is above 50. Best wishes for a great 2003.
Pat

No Morgan

No, Morgan, you fair weather campers get "sand checks."

Maybe "sun checks" or "scorpion checks."

But only folks in the snow belt get "snow checks."

I thought it was because I had snow on the roof and a fire in the basement. :wave

christmas casita

I set the casita and some lights up at Mom's and spent christmas night there....my 63rd this year! After the family arrived, there was great debate as to who would get to 'camp', but sis and brother in law (who have a westfalia)stayed 2 nights and the nephews another. I had 15A power, and hot water during the day while heating with a 110 volt cube. Temps were in the low 20's at nite so i took showers in the afternoon disconnected and drained the water hose before evening. All in all it made a wonderful holiday cottage, and doing the christmas theme was fun.

inside lighting

A small string of lights made for a nice ambience inside. Actually, I left them in and routed them around the ceiling with wall clips for office cubes.

Spare Bedroom

We were lucky enough to have family visit from out of town over the holidays(six extra people in our small house). Kathy and I let the others stay in the house while we made the big sacrifice and stayed in the Eggstream, which is inside the garage. What a great getaway from the pandemonium!:zz Happy New Year!

Holiday decorating!

Hey, thanks y'all, for the holiday pics! I didn't get my molded fiberglass RV (travel trailer) out in December, but will try to do it next time!

I especially like the decorated Xmas tree under your awning, Phil!

And Nevin's snow looks great on his evergreen wreath... (I don't think I can manage that around these parts, though!)

note to Webguy - Save these to use for some of next December's cover pics!

Happy New Year, y'all! :wave
