Spray on bed liner

The front of our 16 foot scamp has take a beating over the years, lots of small rock chips. I have been think of having Spray on bedliner installed to the front of the scamp. Has anyone done this ? and how has it worked out ?

Out local LineX dealer will color match the bedlinered to match. I think it's a good idea. I just saw a whole jeep sprayed with it.

I used spray on bedliner in a spraycan to do the front of my pickup. I sticks to steel, plastic and paint without primer and has lasted for years.

I HAD the same problem with the front of the 82 Scamp I bought several months ago.
It looked like the PO did 10,000 miles on a gravel road.

I used Grizzly Grip from a company in Florida.
It comes in many colors.
I ordered a gallon and found it to be to much. Two quarts will do the job.

The nice thing is it does not require any special under coat or preparation other than a good sanding.

You can roll it on but be prepared to throw away the roller and pan because the stuff is impossible to get off.
Use rubber gloves because it will stain you hands.

The thinner they say to use in the clean up is not available in California.

There were to places on the front I had to patch.
After 2 coats of the grizzly Grip you would never know the patches are there.

Another member here used it as a gravel guard on her trailer and was very satisfied.

I'm having a senior moment and can't remember her name.

i used the grizzly grip on our outback by team trillium and am very, very happy with the results. i sent them photos and they are on their website, under testimonials. it was very easy to apply and it covered completely a little hole (pea sized) in the fiberglass that we got when a stone hit us.

OR... You can use the real stuff, RHINOLINER. I had it applied to my truck bed over ten years ago and still zero problems, tears etc. and nothing short of a direct hit from an RPG will damage it.

The key words here are "had it applied." Grizzly Grip is a DIY... if you care.

Ya....DIY is good, but nothing is like Rhinoliner for thickness, strength and durability. Should cost about $150 to have it applied to the front of an egg.

And, unlike love, Rhinoliner is forever.....

I watched Mythbusters on using Rhinoliner and they sprayed a wooden hut and set off C4 explosive next to the hut moving closer and closer and it just laughed at it. Apparently they have some military contracts with the stuff. They also make a tornado shelter as I recall. They tried to shoot 2x4s into the sides and the wood just splintered.

As humor, spend more time in the bed and less on the bedliner.....

If you ever caught the storm chaser show the TIV is covered in the product. Myth Busters also did a show testing the TIV ability to stay still in high wind that was interesting to watch too. And then there is this Untitled Document

Back in 1996 we had our new truck bed done with Rhinoliner. Had to drive 200 miles to Adrian, MI which was the only place in MI that did it then. They told us that they had done swimming pools (inside) and both inside and outside of a dump truck dump bin. On three different trucks I had no complaints. On one I had the body behind the rear wheel openings done to prevent gravel, etc messing up the paint. No complaints there either.

When the previous owner of my Burro replaced the rotten floor, he was determined to do it just one time, so he coated top bottom and edges of the plywood with berliner, making undercoat, edge seal, and a textured, non-slip floor surface that is easy to clean and can be "dressed up" with scatter rugs. If I start towing my egg more than currently, I may add a front "apron" of bedliner material. Line-X comes in the colors of your choice as well.

You can do it yourself. U-Pol on Amazon.com

$114 for. Gallon which will so an 9' pickup bed. Can get clear and tin to match any paint. Use normal auto paint tints-comes out a bit darker than the paint would be.

Easy to install. Scuff up surface. Wish, dry, mask.

Use respirator and avoid breathing fumes, gloves, old clothes, etc.

It would probsy cost around $75 and take a few hours to do yourself.

Comes with a sprayer which is disposable.

But what is it's RPG resistance co-efficient?????
Genuine Rhino liner will protect you, your loved ones and your somoza's from all but the largest IED you might encounter on the road of life.

Pretty cool video. Bet my grandson could find a way to destroy it.

I used Herculiner from the auto parts store for the roof on a 10ft teardrop I built. I put it directly on luan plywood no undercoat. Made the trip to Calif and back no leaks or problems. I feel if it works on the teardrop it would work on my scamp.
