Is there major theft of the surge protectors? We've only had one for a few months, but so far haven't had any issues.

Theft protection

Hi Jane. The WebMaster at www.hitchitch.com sells a gadget called "Alarm-It" which sounds a LOUD claxon alarm when tampered with. He uses this device to protect his expensive gen-set array. May or may not deter a real thief, but you never know. As they say, YMMV. Regards, LdB

Thanks for the post.

I linked onto that site, but could not find any reference to the Alarm-it gadget.

I don't think that there are any major thefts. However, the surge guard unit costs almost $200 and sits outside the trailer. I really do not want to be the first on the block to loose one. Yes, insurance will kick in -- after a multi-hundred dollar deductible.

And I have seen posts about thieves entering trailers and taking off with electronics and other personal valuables while the owners.

If I do decide to make this investment, I'd rather be safe than sorry.

So, I am researching alternatives.
