toilet in 19'

I got my 1989' deluxe 19' out for one last trip and I noticed the toilet is leaking between the base of the toilet and the tank and the water in the bowel disappears also . Does anyone know about these and know what I need to fix it ? I see there's a wax ring offered from scamp , is this a common item I can get somewhere else ? Thanks Wes

Wes-

The toilet is 3 parts- the porcelin bowl, a plastic ring with a valve in it, and the black tank at the bottom.

There is a wax ring betwen the valve and the black tank at the base of the toilet, they are held together with 4 toilet anchoring screws (the nuts are visible around the valve).

The toilet is sealed to the valve with rubber gaskets. If your toilet bowl isn't keeping water in it, the water is either leaking through the valve into the black tank or out through the gasket above the valve.

The wax ring goes under the tank where the drain pipe goes through the floor. First you need to take the trim ring from around the base of the toilet and find the leak. There are four bolts that bolt the commode to the tank. There is a rubber seal that goes between the tank and bowl base. If your leak has an odor you need to replace the base seal. If you are leaking fresh water you may need a flush valve cartridge. The water draining from the bowl is the black seal you see in the bottom of the bowl. You can clean and lube that seal if it still leaks you will need to replace the seal and in a worse case the flush ball gate.

I rechecked and it is leaking between the toil and the tank . It's not leaking from above so is it the wax ring that's letting leak to the outside ?

This should help. http://www.dometicsanitation.com/QBa...nual_15970.pdf
The upper tank seal fits a lot of Sealand toilets (4 bolt) and a lot of RV shops carry the kit, 4 bolts and the seal. The seal by itself is cheaper but harder to find. The kit runs about $20. Be careful taking the base trim ring off don't break the locking snaps, the newer commodes have little locking straps.
Eddie
Sometimes just tightening the 4 nuts will stop the leak for a while but the seal is the long term fix.

I just noticed you have a 89 Scamp. You may have a 911-M28 toilet which has been discontinued. You may have to call Dometic/Sealand to get help on part#s, they are very helpful. Eddie
Parts list for 911. I think the bottom seal is the same on both models.

My 98 casita had 2 of bolt heads rotted off inside the tank causing leaks from the base. I see that you have the bolts on order.
