Trillium Window

I have just taken off Daisies belly band. It was far worse behind there then I had imagined. Water was infiltrating probably 70 per cent, steel plates rusted and bulging all over the place. Some were so rusted they turned to dust.
What perplexed me a little is that there is wood ,rotten wood,in the belly band area below the rear window. Is this normal,is this wood part of the rear window frame and if so, should I redo that frame before I do the belly band job? Thanks for your info.

Yes. Trillium used plywood around the windows. They also attached other things to it, like the overhead storage trays. Most likely you will find wood behind the door hinges as well. Anything rotten needs to be replaced. There are lots of threads dealing with these issues. At the top of the page on the right is a search feature. Use the second blank, the Google search. Good luck, Raz

Actually, I think Gary is talking about the belly band, not the wood around the windows.

I have run into this as well. Take a look at this thread, perhaps you can learn from my mistakes:

Hi Garry
I am thinking the wood you have found is the wood that either the bunk bed hinge (front of trailer) attaches to or the table.
As Raz says any rotten wood should be replaced.
Hopefully some of our Trillium experts will be along shortly to give you more specific advice.

As far as I know the only wood I have at the rear is the window plywood. On mine it is perhaps 2-3" above the belly band? Is there other wood back there? Raz

The older Trillium 4500 had a section of 1/2" plywood inside the belly band. This was about a 4 foot section. It seems to have taken the place of the metal plates. It was glued in place. It didn't last any longer then the metal plates, and it is tough to remove. I tried. I got the top half out, but I had to replace it with another piece that I glued in place and then covered up the seam with fibreglass.

In retrospect, I should have just glassed over it and not tried to remove it.
