Upper Bunk Weight Limit

Does anyone know the weight limit for the upper bunk on a Boler?
Would it support an adult?

Thanks,
Noel & Grace

I've read in several places that it's 100 lb. Just hearsay but I thinks it's pretty accurate.

Okay, now I've read/heard everything from 80 to 110 lbs. All I know is I don't want to be the one on the bottom if the top falls!

Noel, if you absolutely need to have an adult sleep in the top bunk, consider adding cinch plates in all four corners on the bottom of the top bunk: Clinch Nut Plates - Rockler Woodworking Tools and straight table legs from bottom of top bunk to top of bottom bunk: Shop Waddell 35"L x 3-1/4"Dia. Pine Butcher Block Traditional Wood Table Leg at Lowes.com= You can get them alot cheaper locally I'm sure, but the weight would be completely off the fiberglass hinged area at the front which is the weak area.

The legs are then removable when you want to go back to gaucho mode.

The top bunk has head room, it's the bottom bunk that's "cave like." By time a cushion/bedding is put down, there's about a foot between nose and that top bunk. I think it's really made for little kids or storage.

We're trying to look at ways to not have to make up beds each night. We were thinking that we could sleep in the bunks and leave the main dining table up, but I think that's probably too problematic.

I think our better option would be to take out the top bunk and convert the bench seat into two smaller seats with a small dining table between them and not use the main dining table, leaving it as a bed.

Thanks for your thoughts...

Noel & Grace

When my dog was still alive and I was traveling on my own I would used the upper bunk so I could keep the table up on my Scamp. I added an extra post a bit closer to center for more support which still gave the dog room to get into the bottom bunk. People who saw my set up use to laugh as the bottom bunk is bigger than the upper bunk but not big enough for a person and a large lab. Stopping him from joining me at 2 in the morning was not an option. :-)

There are posts of how people have beefed up their bunkbeds if you search.
