We've used Goodyear Marathons on our trailers for 7 years, travel almost 8 months a year, are on our third set and have never had a trailer tire failure. We do run them at maximum inflation.

You'll get a lot of anecdotal advice here so take it for what it's worth because for everyone who has a great experience with a certain tire, someone has had a bad one.
That being said, when I did my research I settled on Maxxis M8008 ST tires for my Bigfoot. I've done three runs now between Alaska and Southern California plus a bunch of smaller trips in between with no failures, no issues, and they still look like new. And as Norm mentioned, I run then at the maximum recommended pressure as well. More here:

I also run Maxxis tires (ST205/75R-15/D at 50PSI, my rim pressure limit according to Escape). I wore out a pair of Marathons at 25,000 miles, and will be replacing the current Maxxis tires at 56,000 miles (total).

Keep in mind that your 10 y.o. tires are an accident waiting to happen. They are at least 3-4 years overdue, no matter what they look like.
I would suggest finding what is offered and Goggling them for possible problems. As an example, there were certain sizes of Marathon trailer tires with a high failure rate, but others without problems. Chinese tires can be a crap shoot, there are good ones, and others that aren't so good and, by recent news reports, some that are actually counterfeited in China are out there.
But above all, don't leave home without new tires.....

I probably should have said that we have not worn out a set of Marathons but just replace them every 3 years regardless of the mileage. I would estimate that typically they have at least 30,000 miles on them when replaced.
No scientific evidence but I think used tires do better than sitting tires.

I have a 13 ft Boler, we travel reasonably loaded.
I run a 14x6 rim with 185-60 automotive tires.
Inflation at 26-28 psi cold.
Put them on the Boler in 2009. They had sat in our basement for several years after being on a car for about a 1000 miles.
They have been across Canada and back. Three roundtrips to southern California from BC Canada plus or summer camping. Just checked them as we are planning to return to SoCal they look great and I have no worries about them.

You might want to check the age dates on those tires. Tires age even when unused, in fact even when stored before being sold. That's a long trip to take if they are over 6 years old.

Princess Auto sells good tires & tire/wheel combos for trailers. Some car tires are not well suited for trailer use.

It's the best tire for the job that I have found, as for price... That's here in the states, I don't know what it would be in Canada

There are some states that will give you a ticket for not having the right tire on your trailer. ST is for trailers, good luck with that Fred.

Outdated Tires?

Hmmmmm
Tire deterioration starts from the inside and often isn't visable to the eyeball, this is why tire age dates are so important to safe towing.
Those of us in California hope that you reconsider replacing those outdated tires before towing on our nutritiously bad roads down here.
BTW: The speed limit in California when towing is 55 MPH.....

Tire manufacturers and dealers use ten years as the bench mark, after which they commonly will not mount a tire without a waiver, thanks to Harvey, (was that Pookah or Firestone?? )
The "Logan's Run" method of tire maintenance is still a poor substitute for the real thing.

Which states?
It must be Utopia or some other place where they have nothing better to do.
But first you would have to find some place where ST tires are mandatory on light trailers , I doubt they exist.

I don't know who the Tire Manufacturers and Dealers you speak of are but.....
1. At least here in CA, America's Tire/Discount Tire won't mount a tire over 6 years old, period.... I personally know this from when I had a pair of 2 year old, ST, tires mounted on trailer rims 2 years ago.
2. In the link below, two tire companies mention that a tire can last "Up to 10 years", that sounds like an upper limit, for absolutely a best case scenario, not a safe guideline.
3. I have read a considerable number of reports of overage tire failures on other RV's, often leading to significant damage and/or collateral damage to others on the highway.
Here is a link on tire age that's NOT associated with a tire company or dealer.
