What are the slits in the bottom of Burro windows for?

We're re-sealing our Burro windows and just noticed that there are these 2 slits in the bottom of windows. Anyone know what they are for? To let water out of the interior of the window frame? Click image for larger version

They are called "weep Holes". They allow the interior condensation that drips down the inside of the window and collects in the window channel to drip to the outside.

Do not cover them up, and check them on occasion to make sure they are not blocked with dirt etc.
