What's wrong with the body on this one?

What is happening here to make the side look wonky like that - what would be involved in fixing something like that?
1978 Bigfoot trailer | Chilliwack, BC, Canada | Fiberglass RV's For Sale

Trying to get a feel for what's out there & to watch for as we plan to buy off-season or early next year.

Not sure on how that year Bigfoot is built but that looks like a classic delamination on a stick built trailer, it also could of been a heat related issue maybe parked to close to a Forrest fire. In any case it does not look like an easy repair

Have never seen that on a fibreglass trailer before. Suspect Mike may be right as it sure looks like it melted. Parked by a house fire or one of the many forest fires we have had here in BC. or he rolled it over and did real poor job of fixing it

Why not ask the seller and come back to us on it.

Would be interested in hearing the explanation.

Maybe heat. But then why is the left side wavy but the lower front right is wavy.

May be a bent frame. It's hard to do in a picture, but I held a straight edge over the bottom of the trailer in the left and right hand pictures and noted what looks to be a very slight sag along the base line. Get someone to help you hold a string underneath from corner to corner on each side and corner to corner diagonally, if the axle doesn't interfere.

It wouldn't take much frame sag to give that wavy look to the left side.

Looking at the Bondo on the top, mostly in front, I think someone might have misjudged their overhead clearance.

Good luck on this one.

I would not buy this trailer. There is no fixing this.
If you don't mind the way it looks, you could still use it as is, but you will probably get a lot of questions. Or, if you need parts for your similar trailer.
I can't see it being worth more then $500 to $1000.

If there's nothing wrong with the frame, paint it with flat camouflage paint. You'll never see the ripples. Not that I would ever want this trailer or that kind of paint job, but perhaps someone else does.

I took a look at the photos on the actual Craigslist add (click on the contact owner link) and was able to blow up the photos.

If you look at the photo of the left side of the trailer at the front corner of the trailer you can see the creases where it hit something - hard! Possible one really big wag and it bounced off the back end corners of the tow vehicle on both the front right side and then the front corner on the left side? Hard to tell in the photos but that may be a newish hitch on it as well which would make sense if it did a big wag.

I would not consider purchasing this either ... except if I was going to part it out.

My first thought I that the interior structure was removed, then the walls buckled. Notice the issue on the front I not limited to jut the corner. There is a buckled area all the way across the front.

? downed tree or snow load plus water damage to the interior supporting structures which are wood. Interior shots would help diagnose.

At the bottom of the ad "1978 bigfoot sold to very nice people."
So man I hope it was functional. And maybe they read Donna's Idea!!! That was actually a cool thought but I hope they did not pay $3000 for it.

Looks like it was 'air-dropped' from 30 feet up from a helicopter sling.

I say it was body-slammed by a very large pterydactyl.
Maybe we'll get the story from the buyer some day.

I would guess that there is a major frame issue. Bent, rusted through, or whatever. If it sold for anything close to $3000 it was way overpriced.
