winter camping

Since the first day of summer is approaching, I have a question about winter camping. I have heard that some folks use windshield washer fluid in their water system allowing the pump to function for toilet use. Does anyone know if there are long term problems with the alcohol affecting the plastics of the plumbing system?

It's Deadly

Your trailer's plumbing system probably will not be affected by using toxic anti freeze. Your body most certainly would be affected - using something like this in your fresh water system could be deadly.

Even if you remember not to drink the poison that you placed in the fresh water system, how can you be certain every bit of the deadly poison gets flushed out in the spring?

The only thing to do when winter camping is to use non-toxic anti freeze in your fresh water system.

Please do not use any poisonous substance in your fresh water system. Ever.

Besides the poison issue<img src=http://www.fiberglassrv.com/board/uploads/3eeea145aa3cbsmiley gag.gif/>

Alcohol and plastic pluming parts do not mix.
Some plastic becomes brittle when exposed to alcohol.

Hi
I don't know how else to say it.Thats totally stupid. That pump and tank is for fresh water and for human use.The only other safe solution to use is approved RV winter anti freeze.I will use on occasion a slight amount of bleach and clean out my tank.Ifill tank with water and a little bleach (1 Quart )and go for short spin.Flush tank a few times after.

Now, Ches. Simmer down. John had a suspicion it wasn't a good idea, which is why he asked.

And, personally, I'm glad he did. I've never heard of anybody doing it before, but I'll bet there are others who have and were wondered the same thing.

John's question gave you and Mark and Dan the opportunity to enumerate the reasons why it's not just a bad idea, but a dangerous one!

And, now we all understand why! :cblob

Washer fluid

...besides, if I use windshield washer fluid in my water line, I might get this uncontrolable urge to start blinking my eyes every time it rained. :o
