In fit of decisiveness that I'm sure to be thankful for at some times and curse at other times, I placed an order on my first travel trailer, a Bigfoot 21FB. Like the dog that never anticpates actually *catching* the chased car, I have to figure out what to do when it gets here (in February). Advice on inspecting the thing (and associated advice on how not to get taken to the cleaners by the dealer for post-delivery add-ons) will be greatly appreciated, and paid back by eventually posting photos and narrative of the inevitable foibles.

When you go for your delivered RV inspection and orientation bring along a video camera. Recording the salesperson as they show and explain how everything works will assist you as a refresher course and maybe even protect you if you have a related dispute. Enjoy your new rig!

The oft-repeated advice given on Yahoo Scampers is to plan at least one overnite stay near the pickup so that if small issues arise, you can easily go back and have them repaired (including your operator skills, of course ). The video-taping is a good idea, or take notes.
