Here in Oregon, some of the county parks actually subsidize the park fees by selling campfire wood. In most places it's really a good deal for the amount, in others... not so good. If I was heating my home, I'd be concerned about the price, but for a couple of nights of a campfire I consider the price part of the price of camping and am happy to pay the going price. However, this doesn't have anything to do with
boondocking... where there wouldn't be any prepared wood available.
I typically carry wood in the back of my tug... a F-150 or buy it close to where I'm going to camp. To me it's like carrying water... pretty expensive to transport!
