Looks great! We used it on our dull looking Scamp over 2 years ago and like the results.

I just checked out the Zep website, and they make a BUNCH of cleaners. Which one did you use? I would like to try it on my '84 U-Haul that I bought last week.
Thanks,
Dave

Thanks guys. I cleaned it with bar keepers friend and simple green. Then I used zep wet look 5 coats of it. It starts to look good on the 3rd coat then the 4th looks much better so I left it but woke up the next day and went for five... Lol That last coat made it look great.

Temp?

Hi James, I did not have good luck with mine. What were the weather conditions when you did your cleaning and ZEP. Cloudy? Temperatures? I need to figure out my error!
Thx. Yours looks great!

The days i did it was 75 and sun on and off. also if you only did 1 or 2 coats it looks bad but come 3 or 4 you start to see it take shape.

A key part is the almost dry cloth, we used a well wrong out white magic eraser cloth. You can not leave any drips.... The cloth should be the dampness of a cloth that you might use to wipe a table.

We had the great pleasure to meet Honda03842 at a State Park in Virginia last week. Norm e-mailed directions for using Zap wet-look polish. I followed the direction and I am highly pleased with the results. My 2002 Casita looks new.
Thanks TomB44

Hi Roy,
I washed it well with barkeepers, rinsed well, put 5 layers on, was shiny and all that. BUT....it was sunny and hot, thinking tooo hot, dried very fast, basically finished one coat and could put another on pronto. Maybe needed to dry more, bake more, less sun, less heat,, more love and soft stroking...who knows. Currently it is almost back to the original dirty self!
Cannot seem to get going on doing it all over again! Maybe next year! Thx for asking.

When we did ours, we used bar keeper's friend and some bleach. I see that Zep has a bunch of cleaners that folks might consider. Also, we used some sort of acid that is used on boats. It worked okay for the stains created by metal parts, but the bulk of our stains came out with good old elbow grease and a scratch pad. Or ten. We made sure to rinse it off as we went because it seemed like BKF would dry and kind of stick. So as he went our scrubbing the last time, I followed with the hose and a clean rag, wiping it off. I looked for "fish eyes" -- spots where the water seemed to run "around" an area. Those spots needed extra scrubbing.

By the time it dried, it was in the shade. Still in the 70s, so warm, but not in direct sun. We had two applicators, one which worked REALLY well and one that sucked. The one that I would use again was a big sponge wrapped in microfiber. The other was a sponge wrapped in a chamois. Microfiber is the way to go! If you can't find one over a sponge, just buy some cheap microfiber cloths from your dollar store. Note: I found ours in the automotive part of a Ace Hardware. It's neon green and I washed it out really well afterwards so we can reuse it next year.

My husband did most of the applying once I figured out my sponge was leaving runs in the stuff. He would dip the sponge all the way and ring it out COMPLETELY. Then, he'd apply it from top to bottom, all the way around the Scamp. by the time he completed a circuit, it was dry enough to keep on going. He went around the trailer five times but the last time, he was just finishing off what we'd poured into the 5 gallon bucket. For reference, we only used about a third of the bottle, if that.

I had asked him to let me take some before pictures but his impatience won out and we didn't. He's kicking himself now, as one does when they are wrong. We look at her every day and both marvel at how much DIFFERENT she looks. In a wonderful way. I'll try to get some nice "after" pictures in the sun tomorrow to show you the shine. Even at night, under the moon, she sparkles!

Good luck!

Also, if you haven't already, I'd definitely check out the "Check this out NOT poliglow" thread. It's long, but it's full of VERY valuable information. I think I read it about six times all the way through before I finally did ours.

Looks great Tom. I carry a Chamois with me and just wipe it off after a heavy dew.

Easier to apply than fishing.....
