12v fridge wirh low energy consumption?

My small Dometic (~2sf) fridge takes 8.5 amps. Yuck!

People say that the newer ones take less energy. I would like to avoid using propane.

What is a good replacement?

The danfoss compressor types use about 2-3 amps when on. The duty cycle depends on the ambient. Most folks report between 30%-50%. Raz

Use propane! It works and a lot cheaper than replacing.

Low energy fridges.

Arguably, I would venture to say that Engel Australia makes the highest efficiency 12V fridges and freezers in the world. However, if they are not also the most pricey, I would be surprised.
I covet having one of their portable units, but, unless a lottery comes in for me - - - - - .
Nice stuff, though!
