OK, here is the newbie back for some advice. Like I said in my
previous post I am a new proud owner of a 2003 Scamp 19ft travel
trailer and I have been exploring all the options and figuring out how
to run and control it. I believe I have got everything working and
checked out except the 12v system. When I have it parked with 120ac
plugged in, the converter does its job and everthing seems to be
working just fine. This evening I got it out on the road to adjust my
brake syncronizer stopped and got out and went into the trailer and
tried to turn on some of the 12v interior lights and they didnt come
on. Like I said it was hooked to the truck with the trailer cable
hooked up and a brand new Die Hard deep cell battery. Shouldnt the
interior 12v lights work at this point without the 120ac coming in to
the converter, and for that matter it should have worked without the
truck hooked up also, correct? I checked both fuses, the one at the
battery and the one under the front bunk. Any ideas why the 12v system
doesnt work?

Hi Fredrich!
The first thing to check would be the converter switch. Mine is a three way. Center off, one way is 120v, and the other way 12v..It also has an overload breaker which looks like a small white pin which can be pushed in to reset.

I have checked the connections and all fuses, I assume that if all 12v items work with 120ac provided to the converter that the fuses would have been OK anyway.

I just reviewed the Scamp wiring diagram. Since you've checked both the battery fuse and one inside, the next is wire coming from the inside fuse has a break or is not connected to the converter. I don't think their wiring diagram is exactly correct, but I could be wrong. I think that the fuses at the converter go to individual 12 items and are in use for both converter and battery power to those items. Look around the converter for a wire that's not connected. Check voltages at the converter with the converter on and with it off(unplugged).

Any chance the new battery has not been charged yet?

I dont have a multimeter but I do have a gizmo that tells me if there is DC. Ther is DC going to the converter and DC going to each fuse. Dont make sense huh........its a Centurion 3000 converter if anyone would like to know.

I have a short somewhere in my tow vehicle. I unplugged the trailer from the tow vehicle and the 12v worked inside the trailer.

I suspect that the plug is wired wrong.
What type of plug do you have?

Life is good, I found that my trailer was not completely connected to the tow vehicle. My round connector from the trailer looks like someone drug it on the pavement and as a result it is nor round anymare which gives me a hard time to make a good connection.

Thanks all for your help here on this post.
