Hi Andrew, it depends on the type of crack for ease of repair. A more less straight crack you want to drill a hole at each end to keep it from continuing on cracking. RV supply sites sell a two part epoxy for black and fresh water tanks. Not sure what the gray color means for a black water tank, maybe nothing. I've used the epoxy for repairs before and they worked fine and were easy to do.

For LDPE you will have to weld it.

Plastic Welding Kit

If you use this unit you must follow the cool down cycle in the instructions or you will burn out the unit.
You will also have to purchase some LDPE welding rod. available online.
there are videos on u tube for plastic welding.
Nothing sticks for very long on Ldpe or Hdpe welding is the only viable solution.

What are the external dimensions of your holding tank? Have you priced a replacement tank?

i found a company in alberta from an old postRBW1531-2.pdf. new tank, same measurements and hole location as the old one (you specify where you want the holes).
it was $220 plus shipping.
i thought about fixing the old tank, but was worries since the tank is 30 years old and is inside the trailer and if it ever leak again it would cause more than $200 damage it was better to invest in a new one

i will let you know how it turns out, should be here in less than a week
