17" x 24" vent hood

I need a little help. I have a mid 90's Scamp that has a 17" x 24" roof vent hood. The old hood flew off somewhere on I44. So, I got a new hood from Scamp. However, they did not send the tracking bar that attaches to the hood to the adjustment mechanism. So, I called Scamp and they told me that tracking bar is no longer available for that size of hood. He had no idea where to get that part anymore. The only thing they could offer me is to sell me a new vent system. Hood, screen, bar, etc... The whole thing. The problem with that is they now make it in a bigger size. So, I would be cutting into the Scamp to install a new roof vent. I guess if that's my only option that is what I'll do. It just seems a little excessive when I'm missing a part that probably costs less than $5.00. Anyone ever come across this? Does anyone know where to buy or how to make this part?

Just so we know...did Scamp refund the money you paid for the vent you bought from them but can't use due to its lacking the part that makes it work???
