1973? Boler interior - paint? Remove old carpet. Help!!

Hey everyone!

My husband and I have a 1973 (we think) Boler that is in pretty decent shape. The precious owner glued some nasty blue carpet (not automotive carpet...just household carpet) to the walls and now we would like to remove it and redo the interior. I removed a small piece today and it has taken what looks like the paint that is underneath of it off. The fiberglass is exposed and I'm just not sure what to do. What would you recommend for the interior? Should I sand it slightly and prime/paint? How about using a truck box liner type roll on paint so it has some texture?

Welcoming all suggestions! Thanks so much!

Insulation keeps condensation from forming on the shell at night. Common options are Ensolite (like the original), Reflectix (used to wrap hot water tanks) covered in haul liner or carpet, or spray on foam.

I'm thinking the white patch on the carpet might be the adhesive used to glue the carpet.

No matter what you replace the carpet with, it will be labour intensive. Most of that will involve stripping off the old and getting a clean surface to bond to.

Replacements:
  1. TrilliumRV has an ensolite replacement <expensive>
  2. Scamp sells reflectix and rat fur <if you like it>
  3. bedliner <looks OK, minimal insulation>
  4. I've seen one that used a roll on interior wall texturing <not sure how it held up with the humidity over the years>
There are a lot of threads here where people show what they've done. I suggest you spend the time doing the research before you spend the time doing the labour.

We are also thinking about trying the box liner.... 2 weeks of scraping and sanding old body fill..... Seems the new insulation and hull liner is not an option! The previous owner I'm guessing did not care what they used to do whatever it was they were doing!! Did you try the rubberized box liner?
