It locks the door from inside. Mine was not working properly. Remove the whole mechanism (easy). Clean it and lube it with synthetic light lubricant and also regularly spray silicone. Should work for years again. If not and need parts. There is a parts kit available.

It is the door lock, but the "trick" to getting it to work is the key on the outside needs to be vertical.

Pull it out, and the handle is locked, push in, and the handle is unlocked.

Where do you find the parts kit?

Does anyone have a pict of this pin. Mine doesn't lock either & it's also riveted in.
I guess I'll try a couple applications of silicon & see how that works.

Not sure if these pictures will help you at all but I took mine out (those couple of screws) and had it apart and cleaned up and put back together. Not very hard, just watch where the pieces come from when you take it apart. I should have taken a picture of the lock when I had it apart but camera was not real handy at the time.

My lock on the 1971 Trillium is way different . I'll take a pict in the next couple days. The guy that I bought it off of said that it didn't lock.

Hi Don: Thanks for the great pics of the Trill lock. I to have been having a problem with the same lock and plan to follow through with cleaning it up, etc. However, my comfort using just this lock on my camper is not the greatest. Have other Trillium owners added another lock to their door?If so, what brand name/model number? I have a 1974/13 ft. Trillium-Thanks- Mary Lynn

While we're on the subject, has anyone found a source for spare keys for the aforementioned locks?

70's Trilliums were equipped with Bargman L-400 locksets.

My recently acquired '78 Trill 1300 would not lock from inside.
Disassembled lock set to find a bent lever in the mechanism.
Could not figure out how to repair properly so I bought a
NOS one (New Old Stock) on Ebay. It works great. The locking
lever internal design is different than the original one.

The interior photo shows stress cracks on the door from 30 years
of use/slamming the door? Had a '73 that did not have any cracks
around the lock.

I recently replaced my L-400 with a used one, but the inside lock pin (covered with black plastic) won't stay in "up" (unlocked) position. So, when we close the door from the outside it's locked! I messed with the workings quite a bit but nothing has worked so solve the problem. Anybody else experienced this? Solved this?

Hi Mary: I can only guess trying this: with the door open put the key in the lock and turn it in the other direction. Then turn down the inside door handle-maybe that will correct the lock pin position and the door will lock in the correct direction.LOL-Mary Lynn K.

I'm not sure if all 70's Trilliums had the Bargman 400. I think the one(s) I looked at/owned had the "taller" and more square one shown in Don N's post. Was that the 500 I can't remember for sure.
