1978 Boler 1700 - Spongy floor, is it a bad purchase?

Hi There,

I'm Jeff. This is my first post here!

I'm looking at getting a fiberglass RV, and have found a 1978 boler 1700 near my house. (For $4000)

The issue is that the floor towards the front of the RV is soft. I'm a 250lb guy and im afraid that I could put my foot through it.

I looked from underneath and the plywood subfloor is plainly visible, but is in extremely poor shape.

My question is -- is it replaceable? Is this rv worth the money and effort or should I look elsewhere?

I really want a fibreglass rv -- but one that I can't fix (or have fixed) would be bad.

Thanks kindly

Not a good deal

For $4000 you should get a camper with good bones at the very least. Everything is replaceable and repairable in these campers, but a floor is a big task since you have to disassemble the top from the bottom and then put everything back together. It also means your belly band is leaking, which also needs to be fixed. If it just a small area you can cut it out and patch it back together again. If you wanted to do a hack job you could fix the leak then bolt a new floor over the old floor and call it good...

you said you can see the subfloor from underneath the trailer? I have a 78 aswell and underneath mine trailer goes frame, then fiberglass then subfloor.
are you missing a chuck of fiberglass? or is the whole trailer like this.

the subfloor can be replaced but make sure the frame is solid, but the price of$4000 i would think the floor should be in better condition,
only my opinion

Andrew
