1978 trillium 4500 door screw

I'm wondering if anyone has the same problem, I noticed the screws that hold my door to the Shell are coming out. So I put in a bigger diameter screw in but the wood in behind is all rotted. Does anyone have a fix for this.

I used a runny epoxy and injected it into the jamb holes slowly over the course of a few days to fill the jamb with epoxy to act like new wood.

After it is all set up you can drill it and re attach the door where you need to.

I might have stuck toothpicks into the holes at the end but I can t really recall and I am not too sure it matters?

They repair rotted wood floors in houses and boats with epoxy like this and it turns out very strong once cured.

I did something similar to what Ed did. I injected fibreglass resin, with a baby medication syringe and I stuffed in some fibreglass fibers as well. I trimmed the fibers that stuck out. I used packing tape to make it smooth.

When it hardened, I taped the door where I thought it looked right, making sure the latch was engaged. Then I drilled new holes, and then filled them with resin and fibreglass just before I put new, stainless steel screws in.

Once that hardened, I took out the screws in the door, one by one. I filled the holes in the door with resin, using the syringe again, and fibreglass and put in new stainless screws. The holes in the door were still in pretty good shape, so that was all I did.

You've received excellent advice and helpful suggestions from the fine folks that hang out on the forums.

My question would be... have you figured out the leak point that led to the wood to dry rot? If you don't fix THAT, it seems all the bandaids in the world will be strictly temporary...
