1979 16ft Acorn (Scamp) Questions

I just purchased this 1979 Acorn and am looking to do some work on it to fix it up. Does anyone know the original intention of the hole on the cook top/heater combo fiberglass piece? From some pictures I have found there was originally a mini-counter attached to this piece above where the hole was. I can't find a replacement for it on the scamp website so do you have any ideas for function modification possibilities where this odd step is? Looking forward to getting to know everyone in the community.

It looks to me like you have floorplan #3 in this chart.

The Military has a "Moral, Welfare, and Recreation" department that periodically buys these trailers to rent to servicemembers. In the past I have seen pictures of some of those units that showed cushions on that "odd step" to make an "L" shaped couch in front.

I have no clue what that papered-over hole might have been.

l just finished remodeling the interior of my 79 Acorn! How much did you pick it up for?? Yours is in way better shape than mine. I had a blast fixing it up, someone bad gutted the interior of it and most original parts were missing. Good luck with yours!
