1981 Bigfoot

Hi - I'm a new member and a happy camper. Just bought a 1981 Bigfoot trailer. Previous owner had taken out the benches in the dining nook. The table is still there. We want to put the benches back in, along with the cushions to be able to have a bed there. Can anyone give me the dimensions of the bench, along with the cushion dimensions?

Also, they made a permanent bed (for the bed on the left as you enter) - they nailed a board in the gap of the couch. Can anyone tell me how the sections should go together?

congrats.....

I have a 97...there might just be small differences in the measurements given the 17 year difference but if the left side storage cabinet (first picture below) looks the same you can start with this because the shells would be identical....(all in inches)

cushion seats.....41 x 20 x 4
cushion seatbacks....41 x 20 x 4
distance from floor to top of plywood seat....14.25
table is 31" wide and that is the distance between the two seats

Look at how the seats and seatbacks are laid out sitting there and that will give you all other dimensions

the rear bed sounds simple...remove the added ply and nails and the section of bed should then be free to slide to the folded in position (gaucho)

(pics below shows my table stowed upright against the bulkhead....table is also two inches shorter than stock)

good luck....

on second thought....

81 might be different interior construction/cabinetry.....hopefully somebody with a 79 to 87 (or so) model year will respond....

as a side note if there is nothing there now...let your imagination run wild ...some people have made the front as a permanent bed and use a fold up table at the gaucho to eat at......put your thinking cap on

where you at in BC?

Thanks Franswa!!

Thanx for your info - I think the dimensions are different on the 81 but good to know the depth of the cushions. I'm in Salmo, B.C.

measurements

Hi,

We own a 1983 Bigfoot in the same length. When I get home tonight I will measure the bench and cushions.

Bigfoot Dimensions

Hi,

I will start with the cushions. This is for the cushion that you rest your back against on bench 1 closest to the fridge.

44 inches long on one side
43 inches long on the other side
10 inches wide
4 inches thick

(This cushion tapers at the end as the wall near the big picture window by the table is slanted)

The cushion that your bum sits on bench 1 closest to the fridge.

42 inches long
21 inches wide
4 inches thick

The other bench 2 that is closest to the door.

The cushion you rest your back against is interesting as it is sewed together so it is 2 cushions in 1.

1 side: 43 inches long on one side
42 inches long on the other side
4 inches thick
10.5 inches wide

again this part of the cushion tapers

2 side: 43 inches long
42 inches long on the other side
4 inches thick
10.5 inches wide

The are sewn together so the end of the cushion with the two tapers looks like an arrow.

The cushion on bench 2 that you rest your bum on is:

42 inches long
26 inches wide
4 inches thick

Each of the bench measurements

Bench 1 by the window

43 inches long
21.5 inches wide
14.5 inches tall

Bench 2 by the door

42 inches long
26 inches wide
14.inches thick

17 foot 1981 Bigfoot battery placement

I hadn't checked the thread for awhile - thankyou so much for all the dimensions Rachel - we're just at the point of doing that part of our reno... We kinda had an idea of putting it together but your measurements are fantastic!!!! What a great forum!!!

There was no battery in the trailer when we bought it so we bought a marine battery but not sure where it's supposed to go???

pictures would help...have fun
