1989 16ft Scamp

Hey all!

Need some advice-we are considering-CONSIDERING-selling our 1989 16ft Scamp. We are wondering approximately what its worth at this point. Its in real good shape inside, paint needed on the outside along with new rims, which we may end up buying soon. Toilet/sink up front, 3 burner gas stove, sink, dorm size fridge, a/c that we installed under the fridge, all new subfloor and new fiberglass on walls where they meet the floor, new laminate flooring. Everything works in this, even the heater! Any input on this would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you

Gene & Sue. Why does it need paint? Was it already painted (at least) once? How about a really good cleaning and Red Max Pro? If you're looking to sell it really clean and shiny without spending a ton of money... that's what I'd do.

Check the classifieds including the sold archives to see what trailers have been selling for. Also check Molded Fiberglass Trailers | Fiberglass RV's For Sale

and remember, it can still be location, location, location. When was the last time you saw one for sale in your area?

Good luck!

In scoping out prices I have noticed there can be a pretty large difference for similar rigs depending on where in the country you are. Yours does look very nice inside.

That outside does not look painted. If not painted use some bar keepers friend and clean well, those black streaks come out fairly easy, and the the alum. can be polished too. Then the Red Max Pro floor polish should give you a very nice shiny exterior by wiping on three or four coats.

If it looks good when people mentally picture it behind their car it will sell well. If not you will have to discount somewhat for the work the new owners will have to do. And to overcome the lack of curb appeal, both for buyers looking at it and spouses who picture it next to the house. Might be worth the 3 or 4 days to spruce it up to get the best price and a quick sale.

Good advice

Thank you Donna for the info-I do believe we are going to try to clean up the exterior-would save us quite a bit of $$ not having to get a new paint job! The body is in great shape-just needs the black "runs" taken off and brighten the white and make her shine!
Sounds like we will be hanging onto the Scamper for at least another year--

Happy Camping!

I wouldn't be surprised if it could bring 7K or 8K, with those wood cabinets. But nothing scientific about my guess.

LOL Tom--Im sure we could work that into the price!

Mike-all the wood cabinets are original and in excellent condition-honestly overall, this Scamp is in real good condition. We purchased this from the original owner and he took very good care of it(older gent).

We are gonna hang onto The Scamper for another year--going to work on getting the outside cleaned up and new tires and hubcabs thank you all for your input, as we have no idea of what the worth is of this lil egg!
