1996 16' Scamp Refrigerator Roof Vent Cap Replacement

Hi All,

My refrigerator(larger size scamp fridge) roof vent cap got beat up bad by a hail storm and has left a good size hole in it along with multiple other cracks all over it.. I called scamp to order the cap and unfortunately they changed to a new style in 2009 and no longer carry the old style. I need to remove my cap and the base that it attaches to which is mounted to the roof. This will require drilling out the rivets etc and then filling those rivet holes since the new base has a different hole pattern. Ugh! Anyone gone through this? or have any tips or suggestions? I did a few searches with no luck on an existing thread...

Rather than buy from Scamp, have you tried to find one of the older styles.. or one that fits better? Is what you need any of these? RV Refrigerator Roof Vents Here's some metal ones if you'd rather: RV Refrigerator Vent Covers

That was my thought ... find used or NOS (New Old Stock).

Donna, do you still have the link to the list of RV wreckers?

Roy, I got your PM. Here's what I know about:

RV Doctor George

Erickson's RV New/Used RV Parts

This is a link to the VERY OLD FiberglassRV.com parts page I don't know many of those places are still in business.

Then there's this: RV Salvage

and lastly this one, also has Canadian salvage yards and it's updated regularly, it was updated 5/1/12: RV Salvage/Surplus Yards

Does this help?

I have a 2002. The replacement I got was a Camco RV. Available at any RV store. Bolted right on the old base.

yes get a camco, bolted right up to my 1996 scamp base, or modify a new cover with some aluminum angle. I tried to fit a new base on my camper and after drilling out rivets, new base cracked as I was installing (roof is curved base isnt) and that was a scamp part. so reinstalled old base and modified new cover with angle. Then when replacing my dads refrigerator cover on his rig, found out camco cover fit my old base perfectly, actually if I remember right the camco cover would have fit either base depending on which holes you punched out
