2000 btu window air conditioner?

There are so many posts with air conditioner in them that I couldn't sort thru them all.

Anyway.

Is there a 2000 btu window air conditioner out there?

Is 4000 btu the smallest available?

Is there a practical limit to reducing the size of a window air conditioner?

And so on. It seems odd to me that, what with all the small trailers out there, that a 2000 btu or so air conditioner is not available. I have a 4000 btu in my Trillium and it's too much. Yeah, I could just keep it on low, but what with the weight and all I'd rather just get a smaller/lighter btu unit and run it on high!

Unfortunately no one in the U.S. is currently building a window or a wall a/c for the small trailers, it's a tiny niche market.
For consumers, 4000 BTU is about what it takes to cool a very small size room. If they built smaller ones for the consumer market they would just sit on the shelf.
There are smaller ones make for industrial applications but, because the volume is so small, the prices are very high, like over $1200.
FWIW: The smallest RV roof air I have ever seen was in the 7600 BTU range

You might look at something like a "pet cool". They are made primarily for dog houses. I had one for a tear drop camper and it was great. It also had a heater. I'm considering using it in my current camper, a uhaul CT13. Google "pet cool".

There is very little weight difference for roof mount air conditioners.
I just put a Polar Cub 9200 BTU in my 17 foot Bigfoot works well even in the hot sun I'm running the temp control at half.

I don't think that I would personally want to go with less than 5000 btu. Most air conditioners have a thermostat and a high/low fan setting. Simply adjust the air conditioner settings to suit your needs. If you have a little more ac power then you need, you can turn your ac down. If you don't have enough, there isn't much you can do.

A "smaller" air conditioner is something that I come back to when I don't have anything else to concern myself with

I've got a 4000 btu which I put in the "flip window". It works fine, better than fine. But I'd like something lighter/smaller to lift in and out of the window. Don't want the roof sag typically associated with a roof mount and don't really want a permanent mount in the window either (weight/strength issues).

I would have thought that there would BE enough of a market for a smaller AC. Is there anyone out there with an opinion on having an existing AC downsized? IE kind of building one from scratch?

The Pet Cool 2000 BTU unit sez it can cool a 6x6x6 space with R-12 insulation, neither of which describe any FGRV I am aware of. And building something from scratch would be extremly expensive.

You can research some of the through-the- wall units that are used in some pop-up tent trailers. But you may have to import it from europe as I don't think that there are any U.S. dealers.
