5 lug wheels on a scamp 13

My new suspension uses larger hubs so I had to replace the wheels with five lug type. No problem except for the spare. The studs do not align correctly.
1—I can fit it on with one stud but that scares me. Any suggestions?
2—the old tire stained everything brown and ruined spare tire cover. Is that normal?

I did a Google site search on "5-lug spare" and turned up this thread and a number of others. The Google site search option is at the bottom of the "Search" menu.

Scamp sells the 5 lug spare tire mount. You will have to cut off your two existing threaded rods and drill the shell for the new 3 rod pattern. Wrap your spare tire in plastic to keep things from turning brown that come in contact with the tire.
