79 Scamp 16ft Floor Thickness

Today I pulled up the vinyl and carpet in the Scamp.

Like many others before me, some good some bad.

Does anyone know the correct thickness of the plywood for the floor?

Thanks,

Dave

P.S.--- Also looking for the correct thickness of the cabinet doors.

Mine are made of particle board and suffers the ills of 36 years old.

Dave, I don't know for sure but think the floor is 5/8". Mine is swollen just about everywhere you can see an edge. The worst is up front under the bunk where my front window has leaked over time all the way down to the floor. I have the leak stopped for now and plan on replacing the floor some day when I take the bunk out to do a front dinette mod.

As to the cabinet doors if you are replacing them then the thickness of the originals does not really matter as long as the hinges work, if you are reusing the original hinges that is. Not a lot of information but maybe the bump will get this back where somebody that knows will see your post.

I use 5/8" plywood on the floor. (4 green bars). I use 1/2 oak cabinet plywood on the doors with Min Wax golden oak finish for Scamps. Sold at HD in 4X8 sheets.

I too used inch oak ply for new doors in my 91 Scamp. Worked well. It's also quite a bit lighter than the sawdust board Scamp chooses.

Good luck, John
