!976 Trillium Fresh Water Tank

I haven't used the fresh water tank in our new-to-us 1976 Trillium until I had time to have a good look. It ain't pretty: mouldy smell, black spots on the bottom of the tank. I'm doing everything to try to clean it up and sanitize it but it's difficult being unable to actually get my hands inside to rub it. Any good ideas?

I'll replace the water lines and may want to replace the tank. Has anyone found a replacement tank that will fit in the Trillium wheel-well?

Randy

Yeah those water tanks can get funky. Some have good success with bleach/water, others have installed deck plates to not only clean it out, but keep it clean and dry between uses. West Marine Deck Plates. If you decide to go this route, shop around. Prices are all over the board.

I put 4" deck plates in my new tanks. I didn't attempt to clean the old tank. I would be surprised if you can.

We have a deck plate in our Casita and I just cleaned it out for winter. Love that you can get right in there and get all the water etc out.

Hmmm... Deck plates eh - I'll try it! The old tank actually is cleaning up okay, I think. Has anyone heard of special hazards posed by old plastic tanks, even clean ones? Probably not but I may just replace it anyway. Is this the sort of thing I can get from the RV place? Any recommendations on brand?

Deck Plates! That's perfect.

Ok, I'm going to "borrow" that idea!

Thanks
