A&E awning fabric replacement options?

I've damaged the fabric of my A&E awning. What are my options for a replacement cover, and is it a do-it-yourself job to replace the fabric.....or would I be better served going to a RV shop? I welcome any comments on this issue.

The awning fabric is easy to replace, it just slides into a groove on the camper and another groove on the roller tube. It will take 2 people to remove the old canvas and install the new piece. Typically there are 2 screws through the bracket on the camper to prevent the material from slipping out during use, so those will have to be removed before attempting to slide the old piece out and the new piece in. If you know the measurement of the awning,(from center to center of the upright brackets) you can look on ebay for a replacement awning material. They are not too pricey, and they are cheaper than buying a complete awning. Just make sure to have the awning rolled all the way out before trying to remove it or install the new material.

I have a related question. A&E is the new name for Trans-Awn, and I have the casing for a Trans-Awn 2000 on my 85 Casita. Is there something (besides the fabric) that goes into the casing? Will newer equipment mesh with the older models, or should I start looking for "vintage" replacements?
