A Cranky Upgrade

Okay, here's a question for all you wonderful fixer uppers. Has anyone successfully upgraded the old swing out/up windows from the little push bar openers to a crank out option, without replaceing the entire window?

I will need to pull and repair at least one window on the Play Pac and got to thinking (yes, I know how expensive that can be) maybe I could upgrade the window closing mechanism at the same time.

Any thoughts or links you could send me to?
