Gina,
While I've no experience with your particular furnace, many wall furnaces for homes are available with an optional fan which is installed above the heat exchanger. Usually with both an automatic thermostatically controlled switch and a manual switch. They tend to be rather noisy, so many folks just don't use them. It might be wise to try to locate a set of actual operating instructions, just to be on the safe side. I'd also monitor wall temperatures around the heater. I'd be a little leary of going to sleep with it operating until reading OM instructions.

Stay safe...we don't want to hear about any red/white .."toasted marshmallows". Particularly not "The Shady Bush II"!

It's a "The Cat". I do have a manual, actually, but it's.. at home.

Gina, I've been curious about your vented catalytic heater since you mentioned it in an earlier thread, so today I did some searching. Is it the one mentioned in phred's Sources and Resources page as the "CAT brand", and now apparently supported by A&L Enterprises? The A&L site has pictures and specs and service information.

Information is good. Lack of information is not so good, but misinformation is much worse. Check facts, and apply common sense liberally.

Gina,
From The CAT troubleshooting guide found on Donna's reply, it would appear that you might damage the circuit board if used without the blower. Best to double-check using the model # of your heater.
By now you may have fixed the broken connector, but I wouldn't try to save power by operating it without the fan until you are sure it's OK.
Thanks for sharing your progress with us. Not quite the same as personally taking the trip, but sure beats staying home wondering what life is like travelling over the holiday season. A bunch of us are vicariously travelling along with you.
Enjoy, (He's stuck again, as of this post. Well he did twitch twice?)
