Evaporative cooling is a great choice in hot dry climes. The energy required is about 10% of compressor AC. Plus the extra humidity is welcome in such areas; Wisconsin, and other more humid places, not so much. The savings in skin moisturizer is helpful too.

Nuh uh. Everybody knows Floridians are all cranky and Californians are sweet and tan.

Please note in your earlier post you indicated it was a plane full of Californians (not Floridians) who landed in Florida and almost immediately became cranky until they had a few drinks. Therefore, your contention is contradictory.

And silly me. I thought Richard Allen Davis and Charles Manson were Californians at heart, but I wouldn't consider them to be all that sweet (or tan). I guess that could mean that "everybody" has been mislead. LOL

Goodness no, I think that makes my point. We were all sweet and happy until we hit Florida, and the very atmosphere caused us to become suddenly *Floridian*!

Ah, but you see, those guys are the anomalies. Anecdotal evidence is never persuasive. Those guys were not the Californian norm. I mean, I bet they didn't even pay state taxes!

No, and you did not become "Floridian." You were merely Californians showing your true colors. Heat and humidity does not change one's basic personality traits. You can take the Californian out of California, but you can't take the California out of the Californian.
