Advise Requested ... 1980 Contempo Door Lock Replacement

Purchased a 1980 12' Contempo fiberglass travel trailer to restore.

First things first ... need to replace the entry Bargman door lock.

Used/refurbished Bargman locks are out of my price range. So, what is the closest new locking system available on the market?

It is obvious modifications will need to be made to the door no matter what I purchase. However, I would appreciate experienced feedback..

Thanks.

I had issues with mine. Instead of McGivering it, on the recomendation of members of this forum i loaded some basic tool and cordless drill and went to my local RV center with my trailer. Service guy came out and we discussed the proceedure to replace and he sold me the door lock. I did the replacement in the shade of a tree right there. Did not need more advise or parts/tools but they were right there. Whole lot better then running back and forth, getting the wrong part and trying to explain what I needed and showing tiny pictures on my phone.

Sounds like you are suggesting finding a RV repair person versed in door locks to provide DIY advice and guidance.
