Has anyone added a standard homeowners air conditioner to their Bigfoot? I am looking a to install a 5900 BTU AC in side sliding window. Thanx for any input from this forum.

After seeing 25 views with no response, I had to chime in here. I put an air conditioner in the sliding window of my Fiber Stream, but I think it would be a similar install in any sliding window. I chose my air conditioner so that it would be balanced in the window's frame, but I know of one person who was inspired by my install to put one in their 13' Boler. They made a support brace that catches their belly band, because their air conditioner mostly sticks outside the window.

Link to air conditioner installation pictures.

Tom,
I put a $79 Gold Star in my Scamp 13 about 4 years ago. I got all the ideas and tips from this site. Basically I put it in the closet, above the wheel well. It is flush mounted below the closet door. Cut a hole on the outside of the egg and divided the warm out flow and the fresh air intake. Covered the outside of the egg with vents (pop rivet) and ran power off the interior outlet. Gets down right chilly inside. I am surpised at how it has held up to all the bumps on the roads.

Search around for all the ideas and pics.

Is there by any chance a thread with details/pictures of such an installation on this forum?

There's such a large number of non-AC equipped Scamps for sale... I think I'll need to do something like this.

Thanks.

I replaced the P/O's A/C install with a $79 Goldstar unit from Home Depot. I permanently mounted the unit in an 1/8" aluminum plate to replace the window and allow the unit to sit with the required tilt for draining. The inside is finished with an oak molding frame

Sorry I don't have better pics ...

Plenty cold enough even in Florida's summer.

I think he was asking about a Scamp installation in the closet, not in the window, like THIS ONE.

Hello, I was VERY impressed with YouHauler's AC install in his, what else, U Haul.

My best add-on: Air conditionned in my U-haul CT-13
