Amount of paint for Boler exteriors

We are going to paint the Boler 1300 soon. Using the Interlux Brightside, (that I have located thanks to help from all on this forum!) Will need to cover up a dark color on there now. We were wondering the quantity of paint to buy. Will be doing different colors above and below the belly band. Thanks!

I have a calculator that will do construction stuff like how much paint to use for the number of square feet.

14 ft long X 2 = 28ft
7 ft wide X 2 = 14ft
for a total of 42 ft

42 ft Times 7 ft tall = 294 Sq Ft = .84 Gallon

The one thing about painting over a dark undercoat is that the paint on top may not be as bright as painting over a white undercoat. You might want to think about a white primer over the dark before applying the final coat.

Because this is spray and not brush/roller, the calculator may not be correct so get your total sq ft and ask the guy where you purchase the paint.

.....another 'tip' on painting over a painted egg, ESPECIALLY a PAINTED egg. Be sure to scuff the old paint as hard as you can, removing this old/dark paint will make the newer paint need less coats to cover the darker coat(s). As Darwin pointed out the amount of paint needed varies as to the application method AND the thickness of paint applied, so govern yourself accordingly. After you've done scuffing the old paint remember too to give the shell a real good wipedown with a good quality degreaser. This will help remove most all scuffing residue, and any oils left from your body contact.

Proper preparation for paint is the first order for a great splash job!!!

I painted our 13 ft Boler with Brightsides. I used two litres of primer [with just a tad left over] and three litres of finish for the top TWO coats [with about a half can left over.] Come spring I think that I'll use the remaining paint to cover the lower front for a little more protection. Or just keep it for touch-up.
How much you use will depend on how thick you put it on and how much you thin it down. If you use too much it becomes runny and sags. The manufacturer suggests up to 10% thinner with the top coat and roll it out well.
