Hi Frank, i'm late in the game on responding in this thread and i hope your weekend of visiting trailers and such went well.

I did have Chandler put in an extra 12 volt socket near the front facing side dinette seat as i knew from the get-go that we would be utilizing our rig primarily off grid and via the 12 volt onboard system.

That said... I am replacing the inexpensive (~$10??) socket with marine grade sockets as mine after 3 months of outings (five?) are all but falling apart from use. In fact, though i've not finalized my tweak/design, i will most likely take out the stock socket mounted near the galley 120v AC outlet(s) and hard wire a fused USB multiple outlet and just have the secondary one (side dinette) with the cigarette socket. We use the 12 volt system to charge all our electronic gadgets, run the MaxxFan, LED lighting (replaced the stock incadecent), and water pumps...we do not plug the unit in when we are off grid camping way up in the boonies...with one exception during a once-a-year egg-fest at a state park.

Best wishes on your EggVenture what ever you decide.
Thom

When we got our EggCamper the factory added a 12v receptacle and didn't charge anything for it. 100 bucks is outrageous.

Yeah, I think its outrageous, Mine was lightly used by a member here who took it on 3 outings before selling it. Since then I have added a nice marine stainless 12 volt socket...would like to know more about the multi usb outlet that Thom added....I could use something like that lol

Hi deryk, just head down to your nearest radio shack or electronics shop...you should find various models you can simply plug into the 12v socket.

Here is a link to a quick google search result.
